It didn’t take long for teams to be interested in Kendrick Bourne after he was released by the New England Patriots on Wednesday.
Bourne is set to visit the San Francisco 49ers on Monday, followed by a visit with the Washington Commanders on Tuesday, according to NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport.
The 30-year-old spent his first four seasons with the 49ers before he signed with the Patriots in 2021.
Bourne initially made New England’s 53-man roster. But the wideout asked to be released, a source confirmed to MassLive. The Patriots were also reportedly in trade talks with other teams for Bourne before his release.
A source told MassLive’s Mark Daniels that numbers factored into the decision. The Patriots already have seven receivers on the roster with Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III and Javon Baker.
Bourne played in 12 games for the Patriots last season. He totaled 28 catches, 305 yards and had one touchdown.
