Alan Shearer has delivered a double blow to Leeds United fans ahead of their clash with Newcastle United in their third Premier League fixture.
Daniel Farke desperately needs to secure a positive result against Newcastle United to lift the gloom at Leeds after a miserable week at Elland Road.
Back-to-back poor performances against Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday were followed by the news that Facundo Buonanotte has pulled out of his move to West Yorkshire to join Chelsea in a hammer blow for Leeds.
By contrast, Newcastle boss Eddie Howe received some positive news in the build-up to the game, with Sandro Tonali and Fabian Schar both in contention to play.
Now, Newcastle legend Alan Shearer has backed Howe’s side to claim a win at Elland Road as part of a ruthless double prediction.

Alan Shearer delivers ruthless Leeds United prediction
Despite his former teammate Chris Sutton backing Leeds to get a point in their clash with the Magpies, Shearer believes his former side will have too much when the two sides meet.
According to Shearer, speaking to the Metro, Newcastle’s performance in a heartbreaking defeat against Liverpool, in which Anthony Gordon received a red card, should carry them to victory. Shearer said: “Newcastle have a decent record at Elland Road.
“The performance on Monday night should give them confidence, and although they have injuries, they should have enough to beat Leeds. Away win.”

In a further blow to Leeds fans, Shearer has also tipped Leeds to be relegated at the end of the season, in a video on the Premier League’s TikTok account.
Asked to blind rank the Premier League table, Shearer placed Leeds in the bottom three, stating: “Sorry Leeds fans, 18th.”
Leeds fans will be hoping that they can prove Shearer wrong on both counts, starting with a win at Elland Road when the two sides meet.

Leeds United are defending a proud home record
Although Leeds’ confidence will have been shaken by a damaging week, a return to Elland Road could be the perfect tonic for Farke’s side.
Leeds come into the game against Newcastle defending a strong run of form at home. The Whites’ last home defeat was against Millwall in the fourth round of the FA Cup in February 2025.
Leeds’ unbeaten home run:
Leeds 2-1 Sunderland
Leeds 1-1 West Brom
Leeds 2-0 Millwall
Leeds 2-2 Swansea
Leeds 2-1 Preston
Leeds 6-0 Stoke
Leeds 4-0 Bristol City
Since then, Leeds have put together an eight-game unbeaten run, which includes six wins and two draws in competitive fixtures.
Leeds’ home form will be crucial to them retaining their Premier League status. Elland Road will need to be at its most hostile when they face Newcastle.
