NBA All-Time Rank No. 37: Patrick Ewing

Ranking the top 50 players in NBA history…

Ewing’s 17-year, Hall of Fame career was spent almost entirely with the New York Knicks (15 seasons) before brief stints with the Seattle SuperSonics and Orlando Magic, but we don’t really count those.

[Drafted No. 1 overall](https://nypost.com/video/todays-iconic-moment-in-new-york-sports-knicks-draft-patrick-ewing-number-one-overall/) in 1985 out of Georgetown, Ewing was named NBA Rookie of the Year and became a dominant center right away.

Over the course of 1,183 career games, Ewing averaged 21.0 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.4 blocks per game while shooting 50.4 percent from the field.

Ewing’s accolades include 11 NBA All-Star appearances, seven All-NBA team selections (one First Team, six Second Team) and three All-Defensive Second Team honors. He finished in the top five in NBA MVP voting six times.

Ewing led the Knicks to the NBA Finals in 1994 and 1999, though they fell short both times. Ewing set playoff records, including most blocked shots in a Finals series (30) and a single game (8) in 1994.
