Hurts becoming captain once again actually created history for the Eagles. He will become the first quarterback in team history to get the gold "C" captain patch on his jersey for being a captain for at least four or more years.
What does Eagles' captains named say about the team
The captains' list speaks volumes to the amount of veteran experience on the offense versus the defense. There are only two defenders on the Eagles who are defenders with Baun and Blankenship.
What a big step Blankenship is taking with this defense as he earns his first captain patch on the jersey. It's what everyone has been talking about all offseason, including former Eagles cornerback Darius Slay, who said that Blankenship was ready to step up in a leadership role.
Philly is stacked with five offensive players being named captain. When looking at the offensive guys who are captains, these are the emotional and vocal leaders of the team. Hurts is more reserved, but he has shown himself to be emotional at times, particularly with excitement.
There is nothing new on special teams, as Elliott has been the captain for years. His consistency in making kicks has led the team to look to him as a leader, more through his actions than his words.
