Ranking the top 50 players in NBA history…

Stockton is considered one of the greatest point guards in NBA history.

He spent his entire 19-year career (1984–2003) with the Utah Jazz. The Jazz made the playoffs every season during his tenure, reaching the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998, both times losing to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls.

Stockton was a ten-time NBA All-Star and was named to the All-NBA First Team twice, Second Team six times, and Third Team three times, as well as the NBA All-Defensive Second Team five times.

He still holds the [NBA records for career assists](https://www.basketball-reference.com/leaders/ast_career.html) (15,806) and steals (3,265), leading the league in assists for nine consecutive seasons and in steals twice.

His career averages were 13.1 points, 10.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game over 1,504 games, with 51.5 percent shooting from the floor. Stockton, though undersized, was incredibly quick and possessed immeasurable grit.

Stockton was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and again in 2010 as part of the 1992 Olympic “Dream Team,” winning gold medals in 1992 and 1996.

He was named one of the 50 Greatest Players in NBA History in 1996 and included in the NBA 75th Anniversary Team in 2021.

His jersey number 12 was retired by the Jazz, and a statue of him stands outside the Delta Center.
