Kendrick Bourne says goodbye to Patriots after release in Instagram post

Kendrick Bourne took to Instagram to say goodbye to the Patriots after he was released by the team earlier this week.

The wide receiver thanked team owner Robert Kraft, the coaches, teammates and fans in a post that featured a video of the wide receiver doing drills.

Here’s Bourne’s message:

“THANK YOU @patriots organization for all the great memories! MR. Kraft thank you for helping change my life. These last few years have been phenomenal! And I’ve grown so much! Thank you to all my great teammates and Coaches! And to the patriots fans you guys are the best! The support was real from the jump! It’s always love! Idk what the future holds but GODS plan. Is always greater!”

Bourne initially made New England’s 53-man roster. But the wideout asked to be released, a source confirmed to MassLive. The Patriots were also reportedly in trade talks with other teams for Bourne before his release.

A source told MassLive’s Mark Daniels that numbers factored into the decision. The Patriots already have seven receivers on the roster with Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte, Mack Hollins, Kyle Williams, Efton Chism III and Javon Baker.

Bourne played in 12 games for the Patriots last season. He totaled 28 catches, 305 yards and had one touchdown.

It’s unclear what’s next for Bourne, but he has two visits set up for next week with the San Francisco 49ers on Monday and the Washington Commanders on Tuesday.
