SALT LAKE CITY – Lauri Markkanen put on a scoring clinic against Great Britain, leading Finland to a blowout 109-79 victory.
With the win, Finland moved to a blemish-free 2-0 in EuroBasket to open Group Play.

Markkanen Pours In 43 Against Great Britain
Markkanen scored a game-high 43 points despite playing just over 23 minutes in front of the Finnish home crowd.
The Utah Jazz All-Star shot an impressive 13-22 from the floor, including 7-13 from three and 10-11 from the free-throw line.
Markkanen had 29 points at halftime as Finland cruised to an easy victory in the second half.
Friday’s outing was Markkanen’s third 40+ point outing of the month with Team Finland.

The forward scored 48 points in an exhibition against Belgium on August 8, and followed it up with a 42-point performance in a friendly matchup with Poland on August 17.
Markkanen scored 28 points against Sweden on Wednesday to lead Finland to a victory over Sweden to officially open EuroBasket play.
Busy Weekend Ahead For Jazz Players
Friday’s game against Great Britain is the first in what will be a busy weekend for the three Jazz players at EuroBasket.
Markkanen will be back in action against Montenegro on Saturday. Montenegro is 0-2 to open Group Play after suffering losses to Germany and Lithuania.
Both Jusuf Nurkic and Gabriele Procida will be back in action with their national teams on Saturday.

Nurkic led Bosnia and Herzegovina to a dominant 91-64 win over Cyprus, recording 18 points and six rebounds despite playing just 22 minutes.
The newly acquired center will face Spain on Saturday afternoon.
Procida will look to make his 2025 EuroBasket debut after failing to see the floor in Italy’s 75-66 loss to Greece.
Italy faces George early Saturday morning.
