Philadelphia Eagles fans will have a better idea of who will be starting and which position battles are still ongoing.
The Eagles shared the unofficial 53-man depth chart with the media, breaking down the offense, defense, and special teams. While the offense has clear answers on who's starting, the defense still has too many position battles going on.
The Eagles released their first “depth chart” earlier today, which is compiled by the team’s communications department.
Here are my notable takeaways from it:
- Willie Lampkin listed as a LG and not C
- Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Trotter Jr. listed as co-starters but Campbell… pic.twitter.com/tOPTF2JqQH

Eagles' Offense
WR - A.J. Brown, Darius Cooper
LT - Jordan Mailata, Fred Johnson
LG - Landon Dickerson, Brett Toth, Willie Lampkin
C - Cam Jurgens, Drew Kendall
RG - Tyler Steen, Matt Pryor
RT - Lane Johnson, Cameron Williams
TE - Dallas Goedert, Grant Calcateraa, Kylen Granson
WR - Jahan Dotson
WR - DeVonta Smith, John Metchie III
RB - Saquan Barkley, Will Shipley, A.J. Dillon
QB - Jalen Hurts, Tanner McKee, Sam Howell
Philly's offense is pretty much how fans expected it to be. The good news is that Dickerson is listed as the starter. Lampkin makes his first appearance as the third string, which is most likely insurance in case Dickerson can't go and the team has to roll with Toth at left guard.
Howell is listed as the third string with McKee as the backup quarterback. That will be worth monitoring up until before opening kickoff to the Cowboys game. McKee is dealing with the fractured thumb injury and may not be available for multiple weeks. Still expect Howell to be the backup to start the season.
Eagles' Defense
EDGE - Nolan Smith Jr., Azeez Ojulari
DT - Jalen Carter, Gabe Hall
DT - Jordan Davis, Ty Robinson
DT - Moro Ojomo, Byron Young
EDGE - Jalyx Hunt, Josh Uche, Ogbo Okoronkwo
LB - Zack Baun, Smael Mondon
LB - Jihaad Campbell/Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
CB - Quinyon Mitchell, Kelee Ringo
CB - Adoree' Jackson/Jakorian Bennett
NCB - Cooper DeJean, Mac McWilliams
S - Reed Blankenship
S - Sydney Brown/Andrew Mukuba
The defense has the biggest questions that so far have not been answered. One that was answered was that Ringo is out of the race to be CB2. That battle is now between Jackson and Bennett with Jackson having the advantage.
At safety, Brown and Mukuba are slugging it out for the starting job. The interesting part about this one is that there is no backup with Blankenship as the team is rolling with three safeties. One injury could really derail the Eagles at that position. Quite the risk they are taking.
Inside linebacker will continue to have Campbell and Trotter battling for the starting spot with Nakobe Dean out for the first four weeks of the regular season after being placed on the PUP list. Campbell seems to have the edge thanks to his athleticism and speed he provides the position.
Eagles' Special Teams
P - Braden Mann
K - Jake Elliott
H - Braden Mann
LS - Charley Hughlett
PR - Cooper DeJean, Jahan Dotson
KR - Will Shipley, A.J. Dillon

Shipley is back on special teams, where he will serve as the primary kickoff returner. DeJean will be taking in punts, but it's interesting to see if returning Eagle Britain Covey ends up being called up from the practice squad to the 53-man roster to serve as the returner again.
