The Pittsburgh Steelers have re-signed offensive lineman Aiden Williams to their practice squad, filling up the 17 man unit, the team announced.
Williams dealt with a knee injury throughout the end of training camp and the preseason, missing time, but he is now back before the start of the season. During training camp, he played both guard spots for the team.
Williams played at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, a Division II school.
Williams played basketball in high school and was more of a tight end than a tackle at that point. He grew into his body, standing 6-foot-5, 315 pounds. Williams had a 5.17 40-yard dash with a 1.75 10-yard split at his pro day.
Williams benched 27 reps and had a 30-inch vertical and an 8-foot-10-inch broad jump. He can play guard or tackle, and has played on both sides of the offensive line during his time at Minnesota-Duluth.
He joins other offensive linemen Dylan Cook and Steven Jones on the practice squad. The Steelers have ten offensive linemen on their active roster to start the year, too, giving the team plenty of bodies and depth to their group already.
