The‘crazy’Man Utd detail from Ruben Amorim’s team that Wayne Rooney never saw under Sir Alex Ferguson,‘that’s why…’

Wayne Rooney claimed that he is seeing something from Manchester United under Ruben Amorim that was not the case when he played under Sir Alex Ferguson.

The 39-year-old former England and Manchester United striker enjoyed a legendary playing career at Old Trafford after Sir Alex Ferguson brought him to the Red Devils.

Iconic ex-United manager Ferguson snapped up Wayne Rooney when he was only 18 years old after the club signed him in a deal worth £27m from Everton in 2004.

Rooney spent the early part of his prolific United playing spell under the 83-year-old Scot and hoovered up the major silverware, including five Premier League titles.

Following Ferguson’s retirement as United manager in 2013, Rooney continued his playing career at the Premier League club and remained an influential presence.

Rooney later ascended to the United captaincy under Louis van Gaal and would eclipse fellow legend Sir Bobby Charlton as the Red Devils’ all-time leading scorer.

Wayne Rooney breaks down the difference between Man Utd under Sir Alex Ferguson compared to the Red Devils under Ruben Amorim

Wayne Rooney’s remarkable Manchester United playing spell ended in 2017 and the Red Devils icon left Old Trafford and returned to Everton for a brief second spell.

United’s all-time leading scorer, who called it time on his illustrious career as a footballer in 2021, has now singled out the Red Devils side under Ruben Amorim.

Rooney revealed that United’s teams under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson would not even “talk about tactics” during their encounter with teams at Old Trafford.

The United legend added that Ferguson’s legendary teams of the past were “relentless” and were built to “outrun” and “outpower” opposition sides at home.

Rooney said the aforementioned reason was why United scored so much late on under Ferguson, but it is “crazy” that one detail has now disappeared under Amorim.

“When teams used to come to Old Trafford, you wouldn’t even talk about tactics,” he explained on The Wayne Rooney Show, as per BBC Sport.

“You’d say, just be relentless and you’d outrun them, outpower them. That’s why we scored so many late goals, because the opposition were dead on their feet.

“For them not to do that now at every game, especially at Old Trafford, is crazy.

“I think players are getting a little bit lost and it’s a carry on from last season. If it carries on like that, then unfortunately, I don’t see how it moves forward.”

Wayne Rooney couldn’t be clearer with his Man Utd feelings after the struggles in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era

United have been unable to climb back to the top of English football after Ferguson bowed out of Old Trafford at the end of the 2012-13 Premier League campaign.

Rooney, who was part of United’s last Premier League title-winning team in 2013, is still convinced the Red Devils can turn things around amid their current woes.

“I want the club to succeed and be successful,” he said.

“I think it will get back, no doubt about that, it’s too big a club not to. But when you’re in it in this moment, it is very difficult to watch.”

United are 16th in the Premier League table after Amorim’s men lost 1-0 to Arsenal at Old Trafford before securing a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
