One of the more puzzling transfer episodes of this summer appears to be at an end with [West Ham United](https://www.claretandhugh.info/can-mads-hermansen-transform-the-hammers-defence/) being beaten to their target just days before the transfer window closes, according to a report this evening.
Despite signing goalkeeper Mrs Hermansen at the expense of Botofago’s **Jhon Victor**– he who was left waiting in vain at the airport – West Ham apparently thought better of it after seeing Hermansen’s early struggles, and tried to tempt the Brazilian goal keeper to ignore their earlier ‘slight’ and consider a career in the Premier League once again.
Understandably neither Botofago nor the player himself were particularly enthused by their treatment and it seems an approach from Nottingham Forest has been welcomed with open arms. Particularly in any case when it turned out the Hammers were hoping for a cheeky loan deal: I think it fair to say that David Sullivan is no longer likely to get a Christmas card from Botofago President João Paulo Magalhães Lins.
Confirming the ‘Forest steal with his customary ‘_here we go_‘ tweet, [Fabrizio Romano](https://x.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1961504202233905251) announced the karma of West Ham being treated to a dose of their own medicine with the shot stopper agreeing a move to Premier League Nottingham Forest instead.
West Ham will now have to work out how to get the best out of their existing duo Mads Hermansen and Alphonse Areola: The Irons have been liked with a late move for Hull City ‘keeper **Ivor Pandur** but the Hull management have again poured cold water on any attempt to make a last minute steal by West Ham.
