NFL suspends former Pittsburgh Steelers DL for 10 games after legal trouble

The NFL has suspended former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive lineman Isaiah Buggs for the first ten games of the 2025 season, they announced. Buggs was arrested on burglary and domestic violence charges in 2024 but reduced those charges to misdemeanor criminal trespass as part of the plea deal.

Meanwhile, he was also hit with animal cruelty charges that were dismissed in April. Buggs resumed his football career this spring by signing with the San Antonio Brahmas.

Buggs was initially sentenced to 60 days of hard labor on two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty towards two dogs last July.

Buggs, a six-year NFL veteran, was released by the Kansas City Chiefs last summer following the charges.

Buggs was a sixth-round pick by the Steelers in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent three seasons with the team before being released.

However, he carved out a role for himself with the Detroit Lions, earning a starting job and eventually, a significant rotational role. Buggs also played the Kansas City Chiefs in 2024, winning the Super Bowl.

This offseason, Buggs dropped 20 pounds from 336 pounds to 315 pounds and feels leaner than he did before. He hopes that after his suspension in up a team comes calling and signs him.
