Tom Barclay reveals when Xavi Simons will make his debut for Tottenham Hotspur
After weeks of efforts and some hurting setbacks, Tottenham Hotspur have finally been successful in landing a new playmaker for Thomas Frank’s team. This new addition to the Spurs team is none other than the Dutch forward Xavi Simons, who has been one of the most brightly shining young talents in Europe in the last few years.
The North London side has shelled out a significant amount of money to land the Dutchman, and there is no doubt that Simons will bring a lot of quality to the Spurs attack. Furthermore, he will not only provide Thomas Frank with a new playmaker in the absence of James Maddison, but will also provide a profile of an attacking midfielder that the Danish coach did not have in his squad earlier.
With this signing completed, the Tottenham fans would be highly excited to see the La Masia-trained forward play in their beloved team’s colours. However, they might have to wait for some time before they can watch such a spectacle.
This seems particularly to be the case from a claim made by The Sun’s Tom Barclay on X. The journalist reveals that now it is too late for the new Spurs signing to be involved in the game against Bournemouth, which is scheduled to take place tomorrow. The player’s signing was completed after the midday deadline, and he is yet to get his work permit. Still, the fans would get a glimpse of the new player tomorrow, as he will be presented to the Tottenham faithful ahead of the kick-off.
Thomas Frank will still have several attacking options
Despite not having him available for tomorrow’s match, Thomas Frank would still have a lot of options for his attack. The likes of Mohammed Kudus, Richarlison, Brennan Johnson, have all shone in the first two Premier League games of the season, while Pape Mater Sarr has also been quite effective playing as an advanced midfielder in these games.
Still, seeing Simons playing for Tottenham would be quite an exciting spectacle, and hopefully, his debut for Spurs will come in the match against West Ham United on 13th September after the first international break of the 2025-26 season.
