DeMarcus Ware's reaction to Micah Parsons trade is every Cowboys fan

The Micah Parsons saga has finally come to its end, and things certainly didn't work out the way fans of the Dallas Cowboys hoped it would. On Thursday, Jerry Jones shocked the world by shipping the four-time Pro Bowl edge rusher to the Green Bay Packers, with America's Team receiving only a 2026 first-round pick, a 2027 first-round pick, and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark in return.

Simply put, Dallas got fleeced.

As one would imagine, reactions to the trade flooded social media, one of which came from Dallas defensive legend DeMarcus Ware, who said everything Cowboys fans were feeling without actually saying a single word.

Yeah, that about sums it up.

Ware, of course, is easily one of the best defensive players in Dallas history, racking up a franchise-best 117.0 sacks during his nine-year run with the Cowboys. And the 2005 first-round pick knows what it's like to be run out of town by Jones, although his situation was obviously a little different.

After seven straight Pro Bowl selections from 2006 to 2012, a stretch during which he also earned four First-Team All-Pro nods and three Second-Team selections, Ware posted a career-low 6.0 sacks in 2013 and missed the first three games of his entire career with a quadriceps stain to open the season.

He was ultimately released after the season, seemingly a salary cap casualty, but was quickly snatched up by the Denver Broncos. And just to prove he still had a lot left in the tank, Ware went out and earned trips to the Pro Bowl in each of his first two years in the Mile High City, and then rode off into the sunset following Year 3 after helping the Broncos win Super Bowl 50.

Ware was never seemingly at odds with the Cowboys and was inducted into the team's Ring of Honor in 2023, which was the same year he was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. So, he's genuinely still a fan of the franchise, and it's easy to understand why he reacted the way he did to the Parsons trade.

Yes, Kenny Clark is a solid player and has earned three trips to the Pro Bowl. And he undoubtedly makes Dallas better at defensive tackle. But he also turns 30 in early October and is coming off one of the worst overall seasons of his career.

And, yes, the Cowboys got two first-round draft picks. But it's not as if those are going to be top-five or top-10 picks. The Packers were already a good team before acquiring Parsons, and they're obviously a lot better now. So, those picks are going to be in the mid-20s at best. There are clearly plenty of great players still available there, but you get the point.

The Cowboys lost this trade, plain and simple. And they likely lost a lot of fans in the process, given how this saga played out. One has to wonder if DeMarcus Ware is one of them.
