It has been a disappointing offseason thus far for the Golden State Warriors as they have failed to make any additions to their roster outside of the 2025 draft.

Of course, Golden State was expected to be active this offseason to upgrade their roster around their star trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.

Instead, the Warriors have missed out on multiple free agent targets as they continue to await a decision by restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga.

Despite this, it has been reported that the Warriors do have deals in place with multiple free agents that are expected to be finalized after Kuminga’s situation is resolved.

Warriors predicted to reunite with Klay Thompson

For the Warriors, they have been linked to many players this offseason and Sports Illustrated’s Ryan Shea recently released a mock trade that would see Golden State reunite with a four-time NBA champion by making a trade with the Dallas Mavericks.

In the trade, the Warriors would send Buddy Hield and Trayce Jackson-Davis to the Mavericks in exchange for three-point sharpshooting guard Klay Thompson.

Of course, Thompson spent the first 13 seasons of his NBA career in Golden State before he was dealt to the Mavericks in a sign-and-trade last offseason.

The 35-year-old guard saw a decline in play last season along with a decline in minutes compared to his days with the Warriors.

Last season, Thompson averaged 14.0 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting 41.2% form the field and 39.1% from three.

While Thompson is no longer the star player that he was earlier in his career, mainly due to multiple severe injuries, he would still provide the Warriors with an elite three-point shooter alongside Curry in the backcourt as they would reunite the “Splash Brothers.”

Despite this, moving both Hield and Jackson-Davis for Thompson would be a tough decision to make, especially with the Warriors already needing to fill multiple roster spots before the start of the new season.

While that may be the case, reuniting with Thompson to pair him alongside Golden State’s new star trio of Curry, Butler and Green could propel the Warriors into being a contender this season as they hunt another championship.
