TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — Los Angeles Clippers star Kawhi Leonard touched down in Taiwan on Friday and is set to share the court with New York Knicks center Karl-Anthony Towns for an exhibition game on Saturday.
The game will be held as part of the Taoyuan Pearl Coast International Music Festival, per Liberty Times. Cohosted by The Asian Tournament and the Taoyuan TAT Yulon Luxgen Leopards, the event is part of Leonard’s Asia tour.
Fans can expect 3-on-3 and 5-on-5 games, per Business Weekly. Ticket prices from KKtix show “Kawhi Section” seats going for NT$9,222 (US$300) while the second-floor spots go for NT$500.
Leonard, 34, is known for his quiet demeanor and reserved personality. Having played for the San Antonio Spurs, Toronto Raptors, and now the Clippers, he has twice been crowned Finals MVP and is one of the few players to lead two different franchises to an NBA title.
Towns, 29, was the first overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves and won Rookie of the Year in his debut season. Traded to the Knicks last offseason, he averaged 24.4 points, 12.8 rebounds, and an impressive 42% three-point shooting last season.
