Just days to go until the transfer deadline, and Leeds United are close to wrapping up their transfer business. Many thought the club would struggle offloading some first team stars but the Whites have done a decent job.
Leeds began the summer needing to sell some first team stars who were no longer part of the club’s plans heading into this season. Daniel Farke also made some bold calls before the pre-season camp in Germany. And now, with just days to go, some major names have made their exit.

Despite doing their best to clear a lot of unwanted stars, some still remain. Illan Meslier in particular, is still under contract. Daniel Farke confirmed that the French keeper has slipped down the pecking order behind Karl Darlow. Being dropped from the squad entering the new season was the final straw. Meslier’s squad number was also given to new signing Lucas Perri.
According to reports from Spain, Valencia could consider a shock move for the shot stopper. The La Liga side completed a loan deal to sign Largie Ramazani this week. Foot Mercato say that Valencia coach Carlos Corberan wants to be reunited with Meslier; both of them worked together when Corberan was coach at Leeds.
Valencia are anticipating the departure of first choice keeper Stole Dimitrievski, and Meslier is in line to be the replacement.
Meslier’s time at the club is up
There is currently no way back into the first team for the Frenchman. His squad number has been taken away, and he is not even the second choice option for Daniel Farke. The best option for him is to seek a move away this summer, as he already has some interest from foreign teams.
He could also decide to stay with the team till his contract runs out next summer.
