'Showing an interest': Father of 'excellent' Everton player admits Tottenham made contact to…

Everton only have a matter of days to add to their squad before the window shuts on Monday, but they have already done plenty of business.

There is the immediate task of an away trip to Molineux standing in the way of Everton before full focus can turn to any late market opportunities.

David Moyes has admitted Everton could make some late signings, but refused to give out any guarantees to the fans.

It has been a busy summer for the Blues, with Angus Kinnear handed an unprecedented task at Everton to rebuild the squad.

Huge player turnover has been seen this summer, given the number of players who Everton had coming to the end of their deals.

But Moyes has been pleased with Everton’s transfer business, with the big-name additions of Jack Grealish and Tyler Dibling.

Tyler Dibling’s father admitted Tottenham wanted to sign before Everton

Earlier this week, Tyler Dibling made his Everton debut against Mansfield Town just days after signing for the Toffees.

This is a player who Moyes is delighted to have on board, and it is clear that Everton beat some big clubs to his signature.

Speaking to Ell Bretland, Dibling’s father shared some of the interested clubs that Everton pipped to the signing of the 19-year-old talent.

“There had been a few teams from Germany showing an interest but turning interest into a bid is a different thing altogether. I think Tottenham had also made contact in January,” he said.

But he said Everton did not show interest until “two or three weeks ago”.

“It’s the right move. Like any move, it’s a big decision but Tyler is very confident about what he wants and knows what he wants. Joining Everton was a pretty easy decision for him really,” he added.

Everton fans were impressed with Dibling’s debut earlier this week, but it could be expected that Moyes will gradually ease him into the Premier League fold.

His former manager, Russell Martin, has had a lot of positive things to say about Dibling, with the current Rangers boss hailing him as ‘excellent’ among many other things.

It is not just Dibling who the Blues beat fierce competition to sign, with Everton also beating Tottenham to the signing of Grealish in this window.

Everton is the perfect move for Dibling

At this stage in Dibling’s career, a move to a club like Tottenham could provide a lot of uncertainty over game time hindering his development.

Dibling was keen to join Everton, and he made that very clear to those at Southampton.

This is exactly what Moyes will have wanted; a player who was desperate to come and play his football on Merseyside.

Dibling is excited to play alongside Grealish and Iliman Ndiaye, who the youngster will certainly be able to learn from back at Finch Farm.

It is equally as impressive that the Toffees have shown their stature this summer in beating some big clubs to land their top targets.

The Friedkin Group deserve credit for their first summer window in charge, with the club making positive strides towards addressing their biggest issues.

It won’t all get resolved in one window, but a lot has been done to take the club forward this summer.
