Aston Villa are set to lose out on Toulouse defender Jaydee Canvot, who is joining Crystal Palace.
Villa's Premier League rivals have agreed a deal worth £23 million for Canvot, with £19 million paid up front as a fixed fee.
Toulouse also maintain a 15 per cent sell on clause for Canvot, who is one of the most promising defenders coming out of France.
Villa saw a bid rejected for the 19-year-old earlier this summer, but are restricted by UEFA's financial rules in the final days of the summer window.
Canvot drew attention from several clubs and recently impressed scouts while representing France at the Maurice Revello Tournament, which they went on to win.
He signed his first professional contract with Toulouse in June last year and made his senior debut in September against Stade Brest.
Villa are still looking to add depth to Emery's defence as Monchi targets two or three new recruits before Monday's 7pm deadline.
