With just three days left of the transfer window, Manchester United still have business to attend to. Following their humiliating Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby, some might argue that the club needs to be particularly active over the weekend.

The Red Devils have already bolstered their attack with the signings of Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbuemo and Benjamin Sesko, but there are still deals to close to meet Ruben Amorim's requirements. A central midfielder has been high on the club's wish list, but they were priced out of a move for Brighton's Carlos Baleba.

United's season has been marred by a string of goalkeeping errors from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. Despite speculation about their futures, both players remain at the club, even though the 13-time Premier League champions have been linked with the likes of Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

United are also looking to offload some players. Marcus Rashford has been loaned out to Barcelona, but new homes are still being sought for Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho.

Mainoo's position

Kobbie Mainoo is pushing for a permanent switch to Napoli, finding himself at the centre of a £50million tug of war between the Italian champions and Manchester United. Antonio Conte's side have a four-year contract ready for the 20-year-old midfielder, and Mainoo has informed United's top brass that he wants to make the move to Serie A.

United have so far thwarted the move, but Mainoo is insistent on leaving before Monday's transfer deadline. Initially, a loan spell was anticipated, but the England international is seeking a more permanent departure.

Mainoo believes that Conte could provide a boost to his football career, much like he did with Scott McTominay.

Manchester United have no intention of approving a loan for Kobbie Mainoo. The club insists they value the young midfielder despite his limited game time.

Mainoo hasn't played a single minute in the Premier League this season and hopes to make England's World Cup squad next summer. Despite struggling to break into Ruben Amorim's plans, United want the player to fight for his place.

Departures out of Old Trafford

Manchester United anticipate at least three players will leave Old Trafford in the remaining days of the transfer window. The club has agreed a £40m deal with Chelsea for Alejandro Garnacho and are making significant progress on two additional moves.

United have included a 10% sell-on clause in the deal for Garnacho, making the Argentina international the club's fourth most expensive departure. Loan deals for Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli, and Antony to Real Betis, look set to be finalised

More work is needed to facilitate Jadon Sancho's sale, with Roma still showing interest in the winger.
