Wolves medical on Saturday – Club thrilled with record sale to Vítor Pereira’s side

Wolverhampton Wanderers are working on a late move for KRC Genk’s Tolu Arokodare, which has been covered for days in Belgium.

On Friday, Het Laatste Nieuws reported Wolves are close to reaching an agreement with the Jupiler Pro League club for the striker’s transfer.

He was dropped from the squad to face Lech Poznan in the Europa League qualifiers on Thursday. Genk manager Thorsten Fink confirmed this was because of ongoing talks for his sale.

Wolves made advances and are edging towards completing his signing, according to Saturday’s edition of Het Belang van Limburg.

The 24-year-old was initially dissatisfied with the slow-place of negotiations between the two clubs. This was because the gap in valuation between the Jupiler Pro League club and Wolves was considered to be quite big until Friday evening.

Genk sold Sander Berge to Sheffield United for €25m in January 2020 and this is currently their record sale. They want the Nigeria international’s sale to break this record and have been firm with their stance. The Belgian club have finally managed to achieve it.

HBVL say Vítor Pereira’s side have agreed to pay €26m and can rise by €1m if Arokodare were to make certain number of appearances in the Premier League. Genk also retain a 10% sell-on clause.

It’s claimed ‘everyone is happy’, after Wolves and Genk agreed terms for this operation, and the player has been allowed to travel to complete his Wolves move. The report adds the frontman will undergo medical tests with the English club on Saturday.

It’s only a matter of time before Wolves announce Arokodare’s arrival at Molineux.
