Report: Wolves offered European club the biggest sale in their history to sign their player…

Wolves’ hunt for attacking reinforcements continues as the transfer window starts to come to a close.

The future of Jorgen Strand Larsen has been at the forefront over the last week, with the Norwegian wanting a move to Newcastle.

Jeff Shi has personally told Strand Larsen he won’t be moving, as the Old Gold look to hang on to their star striker.

Amid the saga, Wolves have been moving for a centre-forward, and a deal for Tolu Arokodare looks set to be complete.

The Nigerian isn’t the only striker Fosun have targeted over the last few days, and it has been revealed that they had a bid rejected for a Ligue 1 forward.

Wolves have had a €30 million (£26 million) bid rejected by Ligue 1 club FC Nantes for striker Matthis Abline, according to L’Equipe.

The report says that the Canaries’ deputy CEO Franck Kita is holding out for the club’s €40 million (£35 million) price tag, even though Wolves’ original offer would still be their highest ever sale.

Nantes have already sold quite well this summer, raking in £35 million worth of sales, so they are not desperate to sell their young forward.

The report from L’Equipe does state that if Nantes’ €40 million (£35 million) valuation was met, they would not be able to reject it.

At the moment, it is not clear if a move for Abline is separate from the interest in Tolu Arokodare, with the offer for the Frenchman arriving on Thursday.

Both deals are roughly the same price, but Tolu Arokodare would be arriving for £3 million cheaper.

Alternatively, Abline could be a new target for Christantus Uche, who rejected a move to the Old Gold.

Tolu Arokodare is a better deal for Wolves

If the deals for Tolu Arokodare and Matthis Abline are linked, then Wolves have landed on the better deal for themselves.

The Nigerian is a lot more clinical in front of the net, with 21 league goals last season, compared to Abline’s nine.

While Abline may be younger and could have more potential, Wolves are set for a difficult season fighting at the bottom of the pack.

They need players who are ready-made, and Arokodare has proven himself as a goalscorer over the last few seasons.

The transfer for the Genk forward is also cheaper, offering better value for the board at Molineux.
