Kobbie Mainoo remains determined to leave Manchester United on loan in the final days of the summer transfer window, despite Ruben Amorim insisting the England international stay, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano has revealed.
The 20-year-old midfielder has reportedly spoken to United again following Amorim’s Friday press conference, where the Portuguese manager expressed his wish for Mainoo to stay and fight for a place in the team.
Mainoo was an unused substitute in United’s opening two Premier League games this season and has since asked to depart on loan for regular playing time.
Romano claims the England international received a clear and direct message from Amorim, who has closed the doors on his late summer departure and wants Mainoo to remain part of his first-team squad.

Romano, speaking on his YouTube channel, revealed that Mainoo recently spoke again to United about his future and reiterated his desire to depart on loan before the transfer window shuts on Monday:
“Kobbie Mainoo again spoke to Manchester United, even after the press conference from Ruben Amorim, to tell Man United, we appreciate what Ruben Amorim said.
“Remember, Ruben Amorim said, Kobbie Mainoo has to stay. Kobbie Mainoo is too important. We want him to be part of the squad.
“So Mainoo received a clear message from Amorim, closing the doors, and the player stays here.
“But Mainoo, even after that, told Manchester United again that he wants to leave the club, that he wants to go on loan, not to leave forever, not to leave on a permanent transfer, let me clarify that again, but to leave on loan.”
Mainoo made 37 appearances across all competitions for Man United last season, scoring twice and assisting once in the Europa League, helping the Old Trafford side reach the final.
The England international featured consistently for Amorim after he took charge last November, before a muscular injury sidelined him for almost two months in February.
Mainoo was heavily linked with an Old Trafford exit this summer, with both Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich believed to be monitoring his situation.
The 20-year-old, who made his Premier League debut under Erik ten Hag in November 2023, is under contract until the summer of 2027.
