Earlier this month, we covered claims from France about Wolverhampton Wanderers’ desire to sign FC Nantes’ Matthis Abline this summer.
On August 11th, RMC Sport reported Wolves had considered offering €25m for the striker, but he said no to them in order to continue in France. Paris FC then made a €25m bid and it was turned down by their Ligue 1 rivals.
Wolves haven’t given up on the 22-year-old and made a fresh attempt to sign him. That’s according to L’Equipe, and they report Vítor Pereira’s side tabled a bid on Thursday.
It’s claimed the offer includes €30m plus bonuses and it could have been Nantes’ record sale. This is clearly higher than what they considered offering earlier this month, but it has been rejected by the French club.
Nantes CEO Franck Kita turned it down and requested €40m to sell the frontman.
L’Equipe point out that the Frenchman wasn’t keen on moving to England when Wolves tried to sign him earlier this month. It’s unclear whether he’ll change his stance now if Pereira’s side were to return with an improved bid.
That may be unlikely considering the Premier League club are now close to signing KRC Genk striker Tolu Arokodare.
