Report: West Ham make new demand to Everton for Tomas Soucek as second bid lined up

With Everton searching for a new midfielder, it seems like David Moyes is adamant that Tomas Soucek is the right man.

The West Ham star’s future will be a big talking point in the last few days of Everton’s transfer window, as Moyes is in search of a reunion.

Moyes wants a Premier League midfielder, and bringing one in that the Scotsman already knows could be a bonus.

The Toffees aren’t giving up in their pursuit as Soucek is open to an Everton move, but Graham Potter has made it clear he doesn’t want to sell the Czech Republic international.

Well, the Irons have taken their stance, and it’s now come to the surface how much money Everton offered for Soucek after the first bid was rejected.

Everton offered £14.7 million for West Ham’s Tomas Soucek as second bid awaits

With the Blues gearing up to submit another offer, West Ham ‘informed’ Everton that Soucek won’t be sold.

But that does not seem to deter Moyes in this pursuit, and a Czech outlet looks to have some inside knowledge on the deal.

Infotbal.cz have stated that the Toffees offered £13m for Tomáš Souček with £1.7m in bonuses, as the Everton boss seems eager to bring his success story from East London to Merseyside.

Obviously, this wasn’t enough to convince West Ham, who want more money before they will consider letting the midfielder go.

With just under £15 million quoted, it’s quite clear that Everton could reach the £20 million mark if they do chuck in another fee.

Many fans aren’t convinced by this deal, but Potter has recently explained how important he is to the Hammers, which could reflect well on Everton.

Graham Potter has explained how good Tomas Soucek could be for Everton

It might not be the exact midfielder the Toffees need right now, as Soucek could be the next Marouane Fellaini at Everton.

The lack of another number six is clear, but speaking in a pre-match press conference ahead of West Ham’s meeting with Nottingham Forest on Saturday, Potter has explained what he could bring if he signs for Everton.

“If you look at his goals record when he’s on the pitch, and then as a person, once you work with Tomas, he is a fantastic individual,” Potter said.

“He sacrifices himself for the team, plays in loads of different roles. He’s contributed a lot to the success West Ham have had over the years.

“Great person. He’s got the ability to defend and attack both boxes and to score, obviously [that] is an important part of the game.”

Moyes has relied on the Czech star many times in his career, and he’s looking to do so again this campaign.

Potter said Soucek is ‘incredibly important’ but that will only spur the Toffees boss on to secure his signature.
