Exclusive:'Still some issues'… Man Utd and Antony in disagreement over Real Betis transfer after offer withdrawn

Manchester United’s transfer window is set to have a busy conclusion with several deals in the works prior to deadline day on Monday.

All summer long, it has been obvious which players would leave Manchester United, with Ruben Amorim deciding before pre-season even began.

Amorim made a five-man ‘bomb squad’ and the quintet have since been training alone, with Marcus Rashford first out the door to Barcelona on loan.

This has finally seen movement elsewhere, as Chelsea agreed to sign Alejandro Garnacho, adding £40m of pure profit to the books at Old Trafford.

Rasmus Hojlund is also expected to join Napoli on loan, with a mandatory obligation to buy next summer if the Serie A title holders qualify for the Champions League again.

Meanwhile, Antony is moving closer to his permanent United exit.

Manchester United still trying to agree Antony sale with Real Betis

For the entirety of this summer, Antony to Real Betis has been a likely outcome. The Brazilian made himself an icon during his short loan spell, and as a result, the Betis CEO admitted wanting to sign Antony permanently, and talks have been ongoing for this to happen.

On Friday night, United in Focus exclusively revealed that Antony was prepared to take a huge wage cut to join Betis; however, this comes with issues.

Now, United in Focus understands via Graeme Bailey that there are “still some issues” with the Antony deal. United doesn’t think that they should have to pay Antony off for the remainder of his contract, but the Brazilian does.

As things stand, Betis have walked away from a deal once again, having left the table on Friday prior to agreeing a general deal worth €30m (£25.9m).

The deal is not considered impossible, but United felt they had done enough to secure the agreement. On Saturday morning, clubs have talked again, with the current expectation that the deal will get done.

Graeme Bailey also explains the figures involved for Betis.

“Betis’ negotiations are being led by CEO Ramon Alarcon and sporting director Manu Fajardo”, with the pair coming to the agreement yesterday.

Due to all parties wanting it to work, chances are there will be a positive outcome.

Manchester United will have no excuse not to sign a midfielder

With three days left in the transfer window, United still need a midfielder and a goalkeeper.

Fabrizio Romano says United are still pushing to sign Senne Lammens, which will cover half the issue, but a midfielder is needed.

The sales of Garnacho and Antony could raise a combined £65m, which is more than enough to go and sign both Lammens and a midfielder.

United should be looking at Lucien Agoume for £35m, which would be a real bargain for the club and a huge upgrade on the current defensive midfield options.
