Manchester United winger Antony has shared a cryptic update after Real Betis withdrew their offer to bring him back to the club.

The Brazil international spend the second half of last season on loan at the La Liga side, rediscovering his form with nine goals and five assists in 26 appearances.

Betis have been desperate to bring Antony back to the club but have left it late to make their move, finally making their offer on Friday.

United will only listen to permanent offers for the former Ajax star who has turned away interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia and Turkey, such is his desire to return to Betis.

The Premier League club accepted a £25million offer on Friday which also included a 50 per cent sell on clause.

Betis however suggested the deal had stalled, later releasing a statement saying they have withdrawn their offer. Report suggest the source of the impasse stems from personal terms and compensation.

‘There is no agreement for Antony and we have withdrawn the offer,’ a statement from Betis read.

‘We can’t afford the fee and the amounts that Manchester United must instead pay the player before the transfer.’

Antony has now broken his silence on social media, sharing a picture of himself with the caption: ‘Between family and friends, life always has a big surprise in store.’

Antony is part of United’s ‘bomb squad’ – the group of players ordered to train away from the first-team while they try to find a new club.

Marcus Rashford became the first member of that group to leave Manchester, joining Barcelona on a season-long loan deal that includes an obligation to buy next summer.

Alejandro Garnacho is poised to join Chelsea in a £40m deal.

United are still hoping to offload Jadon Sancho before Monday’s transfer deadline with the winger turning down a proposed move to Roma while Tyrell Malacia is in talks with Spanish side Elche.
