Liverpool could have a busy final few days in the summer transfer window as they look to shape their squad for the season ahead.
The Reds have done a lot of business in the market so far, with five new first team players arriving.
Others have gone out the door, and there is perhaps a feeling that Arne Slot cannot really afford to let any more leave.
Nevertheless, Liverpool have a decision to make over Harvey Elliott after an approach was made by RB Leipzig, and one or two more could yet make a late play for the exit.
One player who has been regularly linked with leaving Liverpool over recent years is Joe Gomez, whosE importance has waned following yet more trouble with injuries.
But despite staying largely rumour free this summer, reports are emerging from Italy that AC Milan may make a late attempt to snatch Gomez from Liverpool.

AC Milan looking into Joe Gomez transfer
One of the biggest stories of the final weekend of the transfer window at Liverpool is whether or not they can sign Marc Guehi.
The Reds have been porous in defence so far this season, and have faced calls to add another centre-back to the squad.

If Guehi arrives, Slot will technically have five senior central defenders, including Gomez.
But according to a report from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Liverpool could yet lose Gomez, with AC Milan considering an approach for the 27-year-old.

Di Marzio claims that Milan have Man City defender Manuel Akanji in mind as their top target to strengthen the defence.
But with Akanji yet to give the green light to a move, the Rossoneri are said to be looking at both Gomez and Villarreal’s Juan Foyth as potential alternatives.
Liverpool cannot sell Gomez without a replacement
A theme of this summer’s window from a Liverpool point of view is clubs not being able to let players leave until replacements are in place.
Well, in terms of Gomez, that is the situation the Reds absolutely find themselves in.
Slot is already short at the back. Under no circumstances should Gomez be allowed to go unless Liverpool are certain Guehi will arrive.
Should the Crystal Palace captain be signed, there is an argument that the Reds could then let their No. 2 leave.
However, Virgil van Dijk is well aware of how good Gomez is, Jamie Carragher has called Gomez ‘outstanding‘, and his ability to play any position in the defence with quality and reliability will not be replaced by Guehi. If an approach is made, Liverpool must think about this one very, very carefully.
