Exclusive: What sources close to the Alexander Isak to Liverpool deal are now saying ahead of deadline day

TBR Football can exclusively reveal that Alexander Isak is now confident of sealing a move to Liverpool from Newcastle United.

The Sweden international has dominated transfer news over the last two months.

As TBR previously confirmed, Isak made it clear to Newcastle that he wants to leave and join Liverpool, and the striker even posted a public statement to stress that he is keen on a move.

There’s not long left in the transfer window, but Isak and the people around him are positive that he will become a new Liverpool player.

Alexander Isak is confident that he will join Liverpool from Newcastle United

TBR Football’s chief correspondent, Graeme Bailey, understands that Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak is confident that he will complete his British transfer record move to Liverpool by Monday’s deadline.

Liverpool have enjoyed an outstanding window thus far, spending more than £200 million on the likes of Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, Giovanni Leoni and Florian Wirtz.

The Reds are now ready to spend another £150 million on Isak and Marc Guehi in the final days of the window.

As TBR Football revealed on Friday, talks are ongoing over a deal to bring Guehi to Liverpool, and there is a clear desire to sign him.

However, a deal for Isak is the main focus, with Newcastle signing Nick Woltemade and continuing talks over Jorgen Strand Larsen and Yoane Wissa.

Sources close to the situation have confirmed to TBR Football that Isak and his camp are ‘confident’ he will be a Liverpool player by Monday evening.

Bailey told TBR: “Speaking to sources, I can confirm that without being overly bullish, there is a confidence in the Isak camp.

“Newcastle have signed Woltemade, which is huge. It has been suggested that he was a replacement for Callum Wilson, but contacts at Newcastle confirmed this really is not the case.

“Personal terms are not an issue; Isak is just waiting for Liverpool to finalise a deal with Newcastle, which he hopes is sooner rather than later.

“From speaking to both clubs, whilst not done, there is again a real expectation this deal will get over the line.”

Eddie Howe says the Alexander Isak situation is out of his hands

Eddie Howe is delighted with the imminent acquisition of Nick Woltemade from Stuttgart.

The German picked Newcastle when he was presented with the opportunity to join them, and Howe’s focus is on the players available at his disposal.

Speaking to the media on Friday, the Toon boss claimed that it would be ‘detrimental’ to invest more time in the situation surrounding Isak.

When asked if Isak’s move is out of his hands, Howe said, as per Chronicle Live: “That is where I have been for a long time with the Alex situation because it will be detrimental for me to invest any more time with that situation when I have 25-30 players needing every ounce of energy and time.

“And the team needs me to focus on trying to get results, that is what I have tried to do.

“Other people are dealing with that situation. For me, it has been: ‘Let me focus on the players are playing and can influence other results.'”
