Antony has sent a 12-word message after a shock Real Betis statement has been made as his Manchester United transfer remains uncertain.
Manchester United have been looking to offload Antony for much of the transfer window, with the winger making it clear he intends to leave Old Trafford.
Ruben Amorim omitted the former Ajax man from his pre-season tour and placed him among the group of players deemed surplus to requirements for the coming campaign.
So far, Marcus Rashford is the only member of that group to secure a move away, but with Alejandro Garnacho nearing a switch to Chelsea, Antony could well be the next departure.
It was reported on Friday that an agreement had been reached between the two clubs on a £25 million permanent move and it seemed like the saga was over.
Stunningly, Betis quickly withdrew their offer and are now threatening to leave the deal altogether unless United pay the difference in Antony’s lost wages, as they cannot afford them.
Antony sends 12-word message after shock Betis statement
Betis have been in talks with Antony’s camp all summer and it seems slightly ridiculous that they would retract an offer due to the wages like it was the first time they heard them.
It remains to be seen whether this deal gets done before Sunday’s deadline, although Antony appears to be remaining calm as we enter the final hours.
The Brazilian international uploaded an image on Instagram of him having dinner with his representatives and captioned the picture, “Among family and friends, life always has a big surprise in store for us.”
This came shortly after Betis released an official statement about the situation which read: “There is no agreement and we have withdrawn the transfer offer because Real Betis can’t afford the transfer fee and the amounts that Manchester United must [instead] pay the player before the transfer.”
United’s response to Antony drama is clear
Ironically, earlier reports in the summer claimed that Antony had been willing to take a significant pay cut to help facilitate his dream move while Rashford was refusing to budge.
Now, after giving up a portion of his wages Rashford is enjoying himself in Spain while Antony continues to train on his own and demand his full salary after three dreadful seasons at Old Trafford.

United’s own response to this drama is also clear, however. Reports have explained that those at Old Trafford feel that Betis’ latest move is a ploy and that they will come back in for Antony in the next hours.
They have waited all summer to make this move, and United are seemingly waiting for Antony to lower his demands rather than putting up the cash for the deal.
