Seb Ferdinand is the hero again for Arsenal U21s

Last season was somewhat frustrating for Seb Ferdinand, with the winger not playing as often for Arsenal U21s as he would have liked.

However, with Ismeal Kabia having joined Shrewsbury Town on loan for the season, there could now be a chance for Ferdinand to establish himself as a regular in the starting lineup for the U21s.

Ferdinand has certainly made an impact over the past couple of games in his quest for more playing time.

Against Nottingham Forest last week the 19-year-old, who had entered the fray as a substitute, scored a dramatic late equaliser for Arsenal with an effort that went in off the post.

Last night Ferdinand was given a starting berth against Brighton & Hove Albion and there were further heroics from the youngster as he scored the winner in the 89th minute with Arsenal prevailing 1-0 to get their first victory of the season.

Ferdinand’s work-rate and determination can never be questioned and he is now getting his rewards.

There is still much to improve for the U21s in terms of their general performances, with the team’s displays in the early stages of the season having lacked conviction.

However, the win against Brighton will give the group a confidence boost for future fixtures.
