An update has emerged from Middlesbrough regarding Wolves’ pursuit of Championship star Hayden Hackney.

Wolves have been searching for a midfield reinforcement to bring in before the window shuts on Monday.

Ajax’s Kenneth Taylor was linked to Wolves, but it seemed they were putting more focus on Hayden Hackney amid homegrown concerns.

It was reported that a £30 million bid was tabled for Hackney on Friday, but new information coming out of Middlesbrough contradicts those claims.

Friday’s reports of a £30 million bid have been refuted with the claim that Middlesbrough haven’t received any offer, and even then, the club’s position is clear.

This will come as a disappointment to Wolves fans, who thought one of the Championship’s brightest talents would be coming to Molineux.

It should be said that there’s seldom smoke without fire, and even if an official bid hasn’t materialised, it’s likely discussions have taken place.

Until confirmation of Fabio Silva’s exit, Wolves’ hands were somewhat tied, only having room for one more player not developed domestically.

That slot was taken by the acquisition of Tolu Arokodare.
