Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly names former Man Utd star as favourite player growing up, 'my man...'

Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly has revealed that a former Manchester United midfielder was his favourite player growing up.

While it’s been a turbulent start to the 2025/26 season for Manchester United, Arsenal have six points from their first two Premier League matches.

United suffered a 1-0 defeat against Arsenal on the opening weekend of the new campaign. The Red Devils performed well, but have been unable to back that up following a draw against Fulham and a defeat at Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup second round.

Mikel Arteta’s side were tipped by many pundits as title contenders before a ball was kicked this season. They’re sitting in first place after backing up their victory at Old Trafford with a 5-0 win over Leeds a week later.

Meanwhile, United have a chance to claim their first win of the season today against Burnley, and Ruben Amorim is demanding an instant response from his team.

Myles Lewis-Skelly idolises Paul Pogba

Myles Lewis-Skelly is regarded as one of the most promising players at Arsenal.

The 20-year-old left-back enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2024/25, making 39 appearances across all competitions.

After joining Arsenal’s academy as an 8-year-old, Lewis-Skelly made his debut against Man City in September 2024, before going from strength to strength.

Lewis-Skelly has not started for Arsenal this season, although he came off the bench for 18 minutes in the Premier League opener against United.

In a new video challenge with fellow Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri, Lewis-Skelly reveals that former United midfielder Paul Pogba was his favourite player growing up.

Nwaneri guessed that Pogba was Lewis-Skelly’s favourite player as a kid, before the latter confirmed his admiration for the French star.

Lewis-Skelly said: “My guy. It was him for him.

“Listen, I could sit here and talk about my man for a long time.”

Pogba made to wait for Monaco debut

Pogba was a free agent at the beginning of the summer.

The Frenchman’s doping suspension officially ended in March, but Ligue 1 outfit Monaco secured his signing at the end of June.

Monaco decided early on that they would not rush Pogba back into action since he hasn’t played since September 2023. The 32-year-old wanted to make his debut against his former club Le Havre on the opening day of the season.

However, Monaco chief executive Thiago Scuro revealed in the summer that Pogba would be made to wait until October to make his debut for the club.

“I can guarantee he won’t be on the pitch against Le Havre,” Scuro told BBC Sport.

“We are here to be realistic. We expect a three-month process.”
