Chelsea are weighing up whether to trigger the €40m (£35m) buyout clause in the contract of Braga winger Roger Fernandes, according to reports in Portugal.
A BOLA claim the Blues are “considering” an approach for the 19-year-old before the transfer window closes on Monday evening.
However, even if a move is made for Roger prior to the deadline, it is not thought that he will be plying his trade at Stamford Bridge this season.
The plan would be to snap up the teenager and then immediately loan him out to fellow Blueco side Strasbourg.
What do fans need to know about Roger?
The Portuguese Under 21 international came through the youth ranks at Braga, making his first-team debut for the Liga Portugal side against Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese Super Cup back in July 2021.

Roger has subsequently gone on to play 90 matches in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists.
The youngster is a left-footed wide man, who usually prefers to cut in from the right flank, but he can be deployed a a wingback or fullback on either flank too. That flexibility may have attracted Blues’ scouts. However, it should be pointed out that almost all of his appearances for Braga last campaign came on the right wing.
Chelsea don’t really need another right winger
Head coach Enzo Maresca currently has both Pedro Neto and Estevao at his disposal, and Geovany Quenda is set to arrive from Sporting at the end of the season.
For that reason, it would be rather strange if the Blues do choose to purchase Roger, especially if it is the club’s intention to bring him to Cobham at the same time as Quenda next summer. There would simply be no room for so many wingers who are all left-footed.
