Liverpool are likely to have just one player absent through injury when they host Arsenal on Sunday, with Alexis Mac Allister now back in training.

Ahead of Arsenal’s visit this weekend, Liverpool boss Arne Slot confirmed that the club have no new injuries, and that “[Alexis] Mac Allister has started training again”.
Assuming Mac Allister is ready for match action, that would make Jeremie Frimpong the only Liverpool absentee on Sunday.
Even Frimpong has had some good news since his injury, with the expectation that he’ll only be out until after the international break. But that does mean that he’ll miss the Arsenal clash.

Frimpong suffered a hamstring injury, a problem with which Arsenal fans will be all too familiar. The Gunners will have one hamstring-related absentee of their own for the Liverpool match, with Bukayo Saka ruled out for a few weeks.
Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus will be missing with knee injuries, and Christian Norgaard and Martin Odegaard are doubts to return in time.
Ben White is also officially a doubt, but his exclusion from the England squad despite Thomas Tuchel initially intending to call him up suggests he’s very unlikely to feature at Anfield.
On top of all that, Jakub Kiwior is likely to be absent due to his imminent move to FC Porto, and incoming replacement Piero Hincapie won’t be available either.

The upside for Arsenal is that they’ve signed so many other players this summer. Viktor Gyokeres can replace Havertz and Jesus in the team, Martin Zubimendi is available ahead of Norgaard (himself a summer signing), Cristhian Mosquera can cover for White, and Noni Madueke for Saka.
As for Odegaard’s potential absence, Mikel Arteta has Eberechi Eze and youngsters Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman.
Losing players to injury is always bad news, but Arsenal seem better placed than ever to fill those spots. Now it’s time for the replacements to show they can compete with the best, up against last season’s Premier League champions on Sunday.
