Eddie Howe's side will face Barcelona in their Champions League opener
Newcastle United's 2025/26 Champions League fixture schedule has today been confirmed. The draw for the competition took place on Thursday and the Magpies will face Barcelona, PSV, Bayer Leverkusen, PSV Eindhoven, Marseille, Benfica, Royal Union Saint-Gilliose and Athletic Club in the league phase of the competition.
Eddie Howe's men will kick off their Champions League campaign with a home clash against Barcelona on Thursday, September 18. On the prospect of facing the La Liga heavyweights, Howe said: “An amazing fixture for us. I think that's the one that you instantly get drawn to because of the links with Sir Bobby Robson and the history be between the two clubs as you say those games were rightly remembered. So I think the exciting part for me is can we create more legacy to that fixture.”
The Magpies first away trip sees them travel to Belgium to lock horns with Royal Union Saint-Gilloise on October 1.
United then return to Tyneside for a home double-header in matchdays three and four with matches against Benfica and Athletic Club scheduled to take place on October 21 and November 5 respectively. A trip to French giants Marseille on Tuesday, November 25, follows before they go head-to-head with Bayer Leverkusen at the Bay Arena on Wednesday, December 10.
Their final St James' Park fixture sees them face PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday, January 21. They conclude their league phase with a trip to the reigning champions PSG the following week.
