Newcastle United have made an offer for Inter Milan midfielder Davide Frattesi, Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has revealed.
The St James’ Park side have reportedly tabled a loan offer with an obligation to buy to secure the Italy international ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline, with club-to-club talks ongoing.
Di Marzio reports that Inter are unlikely to accept Newcastle’s initial offer, as they value Frattesi at €40m (£34m) and prefer his permanent departure in the closing days of the summer transfer window.
Newcastle’s proposed obligation to buy reportedly includes conditions that are not guaranteed, and Inter would prefer more concrete terms in any potential loan deal for Frattesi.

Davide Frattesi for Inter
According to Di Marzio, Newcastle are seriously considering bringing in Frattesi before the transfer deadline, although it remains unclear whether Inter will entertain their proposed loan-to-buy bid.
The Magpies are expected to remain busy ahead of Monday’s deadline, as they also look to bring in another forward alongside record signing Nick Woltemade.
While the Germany international is being viewed as a replacement for Alexander Isak, who continues to push for a move to Liverpool, a successor for Callum Wilson is also expected to arrive.
Wilson departed St James’ Park on a free transfer earlier this summer to join West Ham, leaving Newcastle with Isak as their sole recognised number nine.
However, with the Sweden international refusing to play for the club until his future is resolved, Newcastle are on the lookout for further reinforcements up front, as well as potential additions in midfield, with Frattesi being targeted.
Frattesi, who joined Inter Milan in the summer of 2023, spent his first season at San Siro on loan from Sassuolo before Nerazzurri made the transfer permanent last year.
The Italy international made 47 appearances across all competitions last term, scoring seven goals and providing two assists, helping Inter finish second in Serie A.
The ‘world-class’ 25-year-old has yet to play for Inter in the 2025/26 campaign, having been left on the bench for their 5-0 win over Torino on the opening weekend of Serie A action.
