Juventus eye move for Man Utd wing-back as Nico Gonzalez replacement, Ruben Amorim loves his versatility

Juventus are in the market for a new wing-back, and one of Ruben Amorim’s most trusted players has emerged on their radar.

The transfer window shuts on Monday and Manchester United are trying to get the rest of their business done.

Although it has been a dire start to the 2025/26 season, there is still hope among United fans that the four new signings will help improve things on the pitch.

Ineos are hopeful they can get rid of United’s remaining outcasts before the deadline passes on Monday. Those players include Antony and Tyrell Malacia, but there could be more outgoings depending on what offers are made for which players.

With clubs running out of time to conduct business, the transfer window could become chaotic, especially in its final 48 hours.

Juventus want Noussair Mazraoui to replace Nico Gonzalez

One player United have missed since the beginning of the season is Noussair Mazraoui.

The Morocco international made 57 appearances for United in his debut season, featuring in several positions across the defence and midfield.

Mazraoui has not played for United since the first game of the pre-season tour against Leeds in Stockholm. However, Ruben Amorim suggested that Mazraoui would return this week, so he may be in contention to play against Burnley this evening.

Although Mazraoui was one of the first names on Amorim’s teamsheet last season, Gazzetta dello Sport claims that Juventus want to sign the wing-back on loan.

Juventus are in the market for a new wing-back and Mazraoui has emerged as a top target for the Serie A giants.

United are unlikely to accept a loan deal for Mazraoui because he will be in contention to play regularly once he returns from injury.

Meanwhile, the Italian side are trying to flog Argentine winger Nico Gonzalez to Atletico Madrid.

Juventus coach Igor Tudor reportedly views Mazraoui as an ideal replacement for Gonzalez.

Amorim is a big fan of Mazraoui

Last season, Amorim made it clear that he enjoys working with Mazraoui due to his versatility.

Mazraoui proved his adaptability over the course of the 2024/25 campaign after playing at wing-back, centre-back and infamously as a No. 10.

Speaking to ManUtd.com in April, Amorim said: “It’s hard to see the best position,” admitted our head coach. “His background is like a full-back, in a defence of four.

“So in our way of playing, he can play in different positions. I see him as one of the defenders in this moment, because of his quality, he can defend.

“He can play one against one, defending, attacking. So I’m seeing him with a future to play as a wing-back and as a centre-back.”
