Aston Villa have opened talks over a seven figure move for Aberdeen youngster Fletcher Boyd.

The English Premier League outfit are looking to land the Scotland under-19 cap.

Talks are ongoing over the final fee.

The Dons are set to land a significant deal with a number of heavy add-ons for their young academy graduate, if a deal can be agreed before Monday's deadline.

The 17-year-old blasted his way into the Aberdeen first-team scoring in his first two senior games against Livingston and Hibs two seasons ago.

But he only made a couple of league appearances and another handful in the cup for the Dons last season.

The teenager has already made three appearances for Aberdeen in this campaign.

Aston Villa already have young Scottish talent like Roy Wilson, Kerr Smith and Aidan Borland in their system, while John McGinn remains one of their top team starts.

The Dons, who have just announced the signing of Mitchel Frame on a four year deal from Celtic, are also set to sell Shayden Morris to Luton Town for another fee, which is close to £1 million with add-ons.

Aberdeen are still looking to add an attacking midfielder and a striker before the close of the window.
