Manchester United have reached an agreement with Napoli that will see Rasmus Hojlund join the Serie A giants on loan with a view to a permanent £38 million move.
Fabrizio Romano reports that the two clubs have a verbal agreement in place for Hojlund to head to Antonio Conte's Azzurri initially on loan. The Danish striker has been exiled from Ruben Amorim's first-team after failing to win the Portuguese coach over last season.
Hojlund wanted to stay and "fight" for his place at United despite Benjamin Sesko's arrival earlier this month. But he was left out of games against Arsenal and Fulham with the Red Devils looking to offload him.

Hojlund joined United from Atalanta back in the summer of 2023 in a £72m deal but failed to live up to expectations at Old Trafford. He's now set to return to Italy where he had caught the eye as an exciting attacking prospect.
Romano confirmed the agreement between the two clubs and that Hojlund had given the green light to a switch to Naples. He wrote:
"Rasmus Hojlund to Napoli, here we go! Verbal agreement done between all parties involved. Loan deal for €6m fee with buy option clause to become mandatory under certain conditions worth €44m. Hojlund said yes to Napoli days ago, set for medical in next 24h."
United will receive a €6m (£5m) loan fee for the 22-year-old who managed just eight goals in 40 games under Amorim last season. When he arrived two summers ago it was expected that he'd be accompanied by a more proven striker to take the pressure off him.
That didn't happen, and the Denmark international was instead thrust into a lead role at Old Trafford, despite his coaches making it clear that he was a work in progress. He'll now join a Napoli side who won the Serie A title last season and had been searching for a Romelu Lukaku replacement after the Belgian frontman suffered an injury.
Hojlund will also be reunited with Scott McTominay who arrived at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last summer. The Scot has thrived under Conte and been nominated for the Ballon d'Or for his exploits in Italy last season.
