Lil Wayne Speaks on Micah Parsons' Torn Relationship With Jerry Jones

On Thursday evening, the Micah Parsons saga came to a shocking end with a blockbuster deal to the Green Bay Packers. In the aftermath of the trade, one celebrity noted that the star linebacker's disconnect with the franchise stems farther back than this offseason.

Dating back to the spring, Parsons and the Cowboys have been at odds over a contract extension. This carried on through training camp and the preseason with no end in sight. Then, a week before their season opener, Dallas decided to move on from the star linebacker.

In exchange for Parsons, the Cowboys netted Pro-Bowler Kenny Clark and a pair of first-round picks. Along with landing the All-Pro linebacker, Green Bay is signing him to a historic four-year deal worth $188 million.

As this ordeal dragged on, many believed that things between Parsons and the Cowboys crossed over from business and became personal. According to one celebrity, the disconnect between both sides has long been an issue.

During an appearance on First Things First on Friday, rapper Lil Wayne gave his thoughts on the Parsons trade. He reflected on an encounter he had with the Cowboys star back in the day. While Lil Wayne felt he was one of Jones' favorites within the organization, Parsons never saw it that way.

"I remember Micah was at my house one time a few years ago," Lil Wayne said. "As soon as he got to the crib I greeted him, I started talking about Jerry. I made a comment a comment like you his son, you the golden child. He stopped me right there like na, me and Jerry, I ain't one of those type of Cowboys...Our relationship, it ain't like that."

Based on these remarks, it's apparent the rift between Parsons and the Cowboys started long before extension talks. Failed negotiations might have just been the final straw in a relationship that had long been tethered.

For better or for worse, both sides get to move on from this messy ordeal. Parsons gets the deal he felt he was worth and gets to start fresh with a new organization. On the other hand, Dallas will look to prove it made the right decision by parting with its homegrown star.
