Newcastle United look to have got the boost they need to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen as Wolves close in on Tolu Arokodare of Genk.
The Magpies are targeting two striker signings before Monday's transfer deadline. They have confirmed the first of those arrivals with Nick Woltemade now officially signed from VfB Stuttgart for a total £69m package.
Yoane Wissa of Brentford has been a summer-long target for Newcastle but with bumps on that road, Wolves' Strand Larsen is the latest forward they have moved for with two bids rebuffed this week.
It may have been reported that the Midlands club would reject a third offer above the £55m already put up for the Norwegian, but Newcastle still have two days to convince their rivals.
And Wolves themselves might actually already me making arrangements with the imminent arrival of another striker to Molineux. Fabrizio Romano reports that Arokodare, a potential replacement, is due to complete a medical on Saturday.
The 24-year-old is signing from Genk in a €27m (£23.3m) deal and could unlock the door to Strand Larsen moving to Newcastle.

That would still require an agreement between the two English clubs but they have until 7pm on Monday to fix this in place and complete the formalities.
Wolves play Everton in the Premier League at Molineux on Saturday and the striker has been left out of the starting line. The Norwegian is not in the matchday squad.
Speaking at his press conference on Friday, Wolves boss Vitor Pereira actually hinted his No 9 may not be involved but that was because of an injury concern.
"It is important that we know every person has ambition in life, but at this moment, Jorgen is our player, is working hard because he has a good personality and is a team player," Pereira said.
"He is dealing with a small injury problem, and I hope we can play tomorrow with him.
"He is our player and an important player for us, and everything we cannot control, we cannot lose our energy. At this moment, it is important to think about the game."
The manager added that he expects the Norwegian to not be effected by transfer rumours as "has a good personality."
