The final days of the transfer window are rarely calm, and this summer is proving no different. Liverpool manager Arne Slot has now spoken about the situation around Alexander Isak, and while he didn’t confirm anything, his words suggest there could still be late drama.
Isak’s name has been everywhere in recent weeks. The Swedish forward has reportedly been pushing for a move to Anfield, while Newcastle successfully landing Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade has only added fuel to the fire.
With Eddie Howe’s team already dealing with Anthony Gordon’s suspension and Isak not training with the squad, speculation is running wild that the forward’s future lies away from St. James’ Park.

What Arne Slot said on if there’s any transfer news?
Asked directly about transfers, Slot gave a careful but telling answer. “Not that I know, probably there is a lot but you have to check Fabrizio Romano if you want to see transfer news. At our ground, not this [Friday] morning. But things can change rapidly in football, especially last few days of the window. If we think the right player for the right amount of money is there, then we never hesitate… let’s see what comes up in the coming days.”
The Dutch coach also addressed Newcastle’s move for Woltemade, saying it was “very nice for Eddie” as Isak has not been with the group.
Slot then explained that Liverpool will only act if the right player becomes available, but insisted he is happy with the squad’s current balance.
Meanwhile, Howe stayed tight-lipped when asked about Isak’s future. “It’s difficult for me to give you any clarity,” he admitted, before stressing Newcastle must avoid “poor decisions” given the pressure of financial rules.
The tug-of-war continues. For now, Isak’s future is still in the air, but the clock is ticking. With Liverpool fans dreaming of a new striker and Newcastle bracing for a potential exit, this saga could go all the way to the final whistle of the window.
