Under-18s Head Coach Oliver Reiss says he was not happy with the amount of goals his side conceded in City's 7-3 Premier League North victory over Blackburn Rovers
Goals from Floyd Samba, Teddie Lamb (2), Tyrone Samba, Jake Wain, David Odugun (OG) and Kaden Braithwaite saw the Blues secure a 7-3 victory at the City Football Academy.
It was yet another action packed game where City’s finishing and sheer determination to not give up allowed them to come back from a one goal deficit inside 15 minutes.
The three points allow City to continue their 100% record in the Under-18 Premier League North this season as they continue to sit top of the table, ahead of our cross city rivals.
“Conceding three goals is too much, but yes all together it was okay, at the moment we are struggling a little bit in the first ten, fifteen minutes in the games.
“Always conceding a goal or things like this to have the feeling we’re not starting in the best way, so the last games we needed a little bit of this to come back stronger, it’s nice to see that we’re able to do this, but altogether I’m happy even when I’m not happy with all of the phases in the game.”
Teddie Lamb has got off to the perfect start under Reiss, scoring six goals in three games and the Boss is pleased with how he’s took to life with City.
“That’s his job. Scoring goals. I’m happy with him of course, but it’s nice to see.
“Again, us scoring goals it doesn’t matter who, but when our number nine scores a lot of goals, of course I’m happy with him and for him.”
Match report | City 7-3 Blackburn
Although it was a good win with plenty of goals, Reiss believes there is still a lot to learn from the game.
“Again after the first ten, 12, 13 minutes we were not really in the game so to see that the lads are able to increase their energy, to increase their intensity by themself, talking to each other, supporting, communication, to come back into a game that’s always nice to see that we are able to do this.
“But we have to work on the first minutes to start with a better energy and a high intensity and again the awareness of defending our own goal and I think these are things to improve on what we are able to do in terms of scoring goals, but in a tough game we have to defend better.”
