VAR's 'shocking decision' strikes controversy in Chelsea's win

VAR has caused controversy in yet another Premier League match after Fulham's Joshua King was denied an early goal.

Neither Fulham or Chelsea could impact the score in the opening 20 minutes of the West London derby before King was put through with a brilliant pass.

The 18-year-old then cut inside and found the back of the net as Fulham's away fans celebrated what seemed to be the youngster's first goal.

Footage then showed Chelsea's Trevoh Chalobah on the ground clutching at his foot.

The attention turned to how Rodrigo Muniz obtained the ball in a duel with Chalobah.

"I'm not sure about that, I think he does catch him but it's a natural footballing action, he's just getting his body across to block Chalobah ... it's just a contact, it happens on the football field," Matt Upson said on Stan Sport's coverage.

"You can't say that's a clear and obvious error."

The VAR replay then showed Muniz had put his foot on top of Chalobah's as Fulham's manager Marco Silva expressed his frustration.

The goal was then overturned because of a careless challenge. Silva continued to display his displeasure with the fourth official.

At half-time on Stan Sport's coverage, Chelsea legend John Terry said "it was very soft" before Craig Foster unloaded.

"Shocking decision, can't believe it, Fulham fans must be so incensed ... this is horrible," he said.

Mark Bosnich added referee Robert Jones should have put his foot down.

"Robert Jones has had some controversy throughout his career ... I just think it's a wonderful opportunity for him, making the original decision, in front of the whole world ... to go over, have a look at that, thank you for calling me to attention but no it is not a foul," he said.

Bosnich and Foster then argued it was Chalobah who was the tackler in the challenge.

"If you mistime your tackle like Chalobah did, sometimes you get trod on, that's a part of football," Foster said.

"Don't go in, in that way, it's actually not that attacker's fault."

To add insult to the situation, Chelsea's João Pedro scored off a corner right before half-time.

Then more controversy came when VAR pinged Fulham for a handball during the second half.

Chelsea's Enzo Fernández made no mistake from the spot to put them 2-0 up.

Silva's reaction said it all as he laughed on the sideline.

Chelsea went on to seal the 2-0 victory to stay undefeated this season.
