Chelsea signed off for the international break with an important win against rivals Fulham in the Premier League.
Even though Chelsea were miles from their best on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge, they recorded a 2-0 victory against Fulham. Joao Pedro opened the scoring for the Blues before Enzo Fernandez added a second from a spot-kick.
Josh King’s disallowed goal for Fulham was a major talking point from the first half, but Enzo Maresca’s side put in a much stronger performance in the second half to temporarily lift themselves to the top of the Premier League table.

Tyrique George has interesting afternoon
Even though Blues youngster Tyrique George was named on the bench against Fulham, he entered the action inside the opening 15 minutes because of Liam Delap’s suspected hamstring injury.
George, who’s a left-winger by trade, actually led the line at the weekend. The substitute was then subbed in the 81st-minute when he was replaced by Andrey Santos, which is not a nice feeling for any player.
It was a slight surprise to see him feature so heavily because he’s linked with a move away from the club in the final few days of the transfer window. Apparently, Roma have been discussing buying George from Chelsea and would be prepared to pay up to £17m.

As you can see above, George’s individual statistics against Fulham look pretty poor, even if he did put a shift in at the top end of the pitch.

Chelsea fans not impressed by Tyrique George
Chelsea supporters on X were pretty honest and critical of George after his weekend performance, claiming he’s not good enough for the current first team.
One fan wrote: “Tyrique George is not Chelsea standard, we can loan or sell him! Simple.”
“Tyrique George should just leave the club,” another commented.
One supporter posted: “Tyrique George is not looking ready to be here.”
“Tyrique George has done nothing since he’s been on. The change never really made sense,” another claimed.
George, who’s a product of the Chelsea academy, is a teenager with a lot of talent. It’s quite obvious from his minutes in 2025 with the senior group that he’s raw, though.
With Alejandro Garnacho joining Chelsea from Manchester United, George’s opportunities could lessen. Therefore, it feels like a bit of a no-brainer for the England Under-21 international to leave the club this summer, whether that’s permanently or on loan.
For Chelsea fans criticising his performance against Fulham, it’s worth pointing out the No.9 role is not his favoured position.
