Lorient have Leeds United goalkeeper Ilan Meslier on their three-man shortlist of goalkeepers, but a deal would not be easy to get done.
That’s according to Ouest France, who report that Lorient are planning a busy end to the summer transfer window and a new number one goalkeeper is on their shortlist.
That currently comprises of two names, the Leeds goalkeeper and Yvon Mvogo, both former players for the French side. There is also a third, unnamed foreign option on the list being looked at.
Meslier is expected to leave Elland Road at some point having fallen to number three in Daniel Farke’s pecking order.
Lorient believe that a deal for him would now be easy to close but know that Meslier is looking to relaunch his career and could be tempted by a return to his former club with that in mind. They could be a good fit to help him get back on track.
Mvogo is easier to get done as he is currently a free agent, but he had envisioned himself continuing his career at a ‘prestigious club’ and a return to Lorient may not fit into that idea.
For now, it appears Lorient are assessing their options, but the Leeds goalkeeper is a name on their list and one to keep an eye on in the final days of the window.
