How much Leeds United will have to pay to sign Gustavo Hamer after Sheffield United decision

Leeds United made a big decision two years ago when they chose to hire Daniel Farke to bring them back to the Premier League. The German almost achieved that feat in his first season.

Unfortunately, the Whites could not get past Southampton in the play-off final. And despite losing three of his best players, Daniel Farke retooled the team and succeeded this time around. He built his side to focus on wing play, utilizing two of the best fullbacks in the division in Jayden Bogle and Junior Firpo.

But the team was not complete; Farke asked for a number 10 but the club failed to sign one and Leeds had to use Brenden Aaronson. The Leeds boss needed a player who could break down defences and create quality chances.

This summer, Daniel Farke opted for physicality, as Leeds signed Anton Stach and Sean Longstaff. But there is still a chance that the club can pick up the attacking midfielder they have needed in this window.

Joe Donnohue has reported that Sheffield United could be open to selling Gustavo Hamer before the transfer deadline. The report says the Blades would prefer a loan deal with an option to buy in the range of £15million to £20million.

Clubs have been told that Gustavo Hamer is available on loan with an obligation to buy for £15-20m. Hamer isn’t agitating for a move but would be open to signing for a Premier League team. There is the sense that Hamer himself does not want to leave, but if a good offer comes, the decision could be out of his hands.

What sources inside Sheffield United have said

The Blades have been busy this week as they welcomed a whole host of summer signings. Some have suggested that the incoming midfielders will support Gustavo Hamer instead of replacing him.

There is a huge chance that the reigning Championship player of the year could stay at Bramall Lane beyond Monday night’s transfer deadline.
