Grimsby Town will not forget their historic result against Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in the second round of the competition.
It was the first time that Grimsby had beaten Manchester United at home since 1905, mainly because the pair have not played in the same division for decades; however, it is a good record to get off their back, and now they are set to face Sheffield Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Manchester United lost to a fourth-tier team for the first time ever in the Carabao Cup, in what has been described as an embarrassing result by fans of the English giant.
The result and elimination from the competition would have been viewed as a complete shock 20 years ago as it is now; however, unlike then, there would have been no panic, as it would have been an anomaly. This loss to Grimsby appears to have caused genuine concern among the fanbase and club.
Grimsby Town mock Ruben Amorim
Several memorable images have become memes from the Manchester United and Grimsby Town fixture in the Carabao Cup.
However, the most notable was the image of Ruben Amorim working with a laminated tactics board on the sideline and in the dugout as he attempted to fix his Manchester United side.
While it did appear to actually work as they recovered from a 2-0 deficit, it has become an image of mockery for Manchester United and Ruben Amorim.
Now, Grimsby have mocked up a video of a man in the dugout with a tactics board to announce their team ahead of their League Two fixture with Bristol Rovers.
Grimsby Town’s record against Manchester United
It may surprise football fans that the two clubs share the same record when they have faced each other, with 16 wins apiece, with six draws between the clubs.

Manchester United have failed to beat Grimsby Town in their last four fixtures, with their last victory coming in 1946.
It is fair to say the two clubs, who at the time were in the same division, have had completely contrasting fortunes since 1946, with Manchester United becoming one of the biggest clubs in world football, while Grimsby are looking to grow and become a Football League regular, as they have moved between the EFL and the National League.
