Leeds United team news vs Newcastle as Daniel Farke makes Lukas Nmecha decision

Daniel Farke has decided to hand Sean Longstaff and Lukas Nmecha their first Premier League starts against Newcastle United this afternoon.

Nmecha being given the nod up top means Joel Piroe is benched. Nmecha and Jayden Bogle are the only players to get on the scoresheet so far this season. Longstaff is handed his first league full debut for Leeds against his old side, with Anton Stach alongside him in midfield.

Ilia Gruev has retained his place despite two underwhelming displays over the past week. It appears Farke has decided to go with a 4-3-3 formation again, having gone with a 4-2-3-1 set-up against Sheffield Wednesday in midweek.

Bogle returns to right-back after an initial rest in midweek prior to his entry and goal, Daniel James begins ahead of him on the right wing.

The opposite flank sees Wilfried Gnonto fielded ahead of left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson, with Noah Okafor not fit enough to start after picking up a groin problem at Hillsborough. The new winger does make the bench.

Guarding goalkeeper Lucas Perri are centre-backs Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, with Jaka Bijol benched for this afternoon. There is no place for Sam Byram, who skippered his side in midweek, in the squad.

XI: Perri; Bogle, Rodon, Struijk, Gudmundsson; Longstaff, Gruev, Stach; James, Nmecha, Gnonto.

Subs: Darlow, Justin, Bornauw, Bijol, Okafor, Harrison, Aaronson, Piroe, Calvert-Lewin.
